City Council Approves $64M in Streetcar Bonds

Yesterday, the City Council Budget and Finance Committee voted to issue $64M in bonds to finance the Cincinnati Streetcar project. Together with the $2.6M approved last month and $15M approved by the State of Ohio, this forms the bulk of the local funding for the streetcar, and puts Cincinnati in a much better position to […]

The Cincinnati Streetcar Saga

Today’s Cincinnati Enquirer has a story that outlines current developments in the city’s effort to build a streetcar line linking downtown and the Over-the-Rhine neighborhood, with a proposed uptown extension that would serve the University of Cincinnati and the medical district. City plan: A streetcar named desire? The plan to build a downtown Cincinnati trolley system […]

The Brent Spence Bridge

Brent Spence Bridge Replacement/Rehabilitation Project Although not directly mass-transit related, a major infrastructure project in Cincinnati involves the replacement and/or rehabilitation of the aging Brent Spence Bridge, which carries Interstates 71 and 75 across the Ohio River between Covington and Cincinnati. The bridge is severely limited in capacity, and is a major bottleneck for local […]
